How to handle failure
Assalam alaikum sisters, thank you very much for reading this post.
How are you? I really hope your well mentally physically, financially.
So today I want to share with you how to handle failure. Failure is one of the darkest emotions, which I don't think enough people talk about. Not imams, not success coach’s, no one really talks about it. I’m not sure why, perhaps they don't want to admit that they failed at something, but if you haven't failed at something, it means your not pushing yourself, you're not really learning and you're not reaching your limits.
So i want to discuss with you guys, how I have overcome my many failures. I must admit it is a continuous process, your day will be fine then something so insignificant, will remind you of a previous failure. I have had many failures but I have learnt to dust off my shoulders and keep pushing.
- Look after yourself - Cheer yourself up - Take a break. Going through a failure can be really tough psychologically, take a break and do something you love. Go shopping - you can always return it later, watch a movie, listen to Quran, spend a day with friends, do something to take your mind off what you've just been through.
- Realising and accepting that the reason you failed was because of your own mistake or your choice, this can be quite hard to accept but you have to accept it, Because once you realise that you did something to cause the failure, then you realise that you can do something to change it. But if you blame something or someone else, something you are not in control of, essentially what you're saying is that there is nothing you can do about your failure, and that will inhibit you from getting back up. Once you fail, accept your responsibility, get back up and make a change.
- Turn to Allah and trust in his destiny. Allah knew how much you wanted this, how much you worked hard for it , and decided that it wasn't for you for a reason, Never forget that Allah loves you. More than you could ever love yourself, so if he said this wasn't good for you, then it was out of love.
Remember that to become great, you have to go through trials and tribulations. Allah is making you great.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, I want this to be a place where we can all share our thoughts and ideas to inspire one another. How did you overcome a recent failure? Let us know below.
